Hello and welcome to this weeks Broke Stampers Unite post. This week the topic is Techniques, and for this technique we are doing masking tape/painters tape technique. It was a new thing for me. Hadn't heard of it and had to look it up. What I learned was that you take strips of masking/painters tape and gently apply sticky side down to your ink pad. Give it a light tap and then lift it up off the pad. Then you take that strip of tape and apply it to your desired spot on your card stock. You want to place it down lightly and only very gently give it a rub. You don't want to stick it down and press hard because it can lift or tear your card stock surface as you pull it back up. So work lightly lol. As shown in the picture below I did these steps a couple of times. I used Lost Lagoon, Tangerine Tango, and Hello Honey inks. Once I got my background stripes done I then stamped my image over the top with Early Espresso. It's just a fun and easy way to create stunning background effects. |

In this card once I got my background stripes done I used a sponge dauber and added ink to the edges of my card stock. I hope you've enjoyed learning about this technique, I know I did. Give it a try....go forth and stamp!!! You'll love the fun effects you can get and be able to step up your stamping.
I also want to say a big WELCOME to Stace who has joined Terri and I in our Broke Stampers Unite quest! Be sure to head over to both of these lovely ladies blogs and see what they came up with for this week.

Pretty cards! I really like the second one where you sponged around the sides makes the tape part pop a bit more I think.
ReplyDeleteI like both cards. I can't decide which one I like better….
